What a change on the buyer's profile in the last 15 years. Back in 1992, the 911 RSA was not selling, so Porsche was moving them below sticker.

Better yet, people were paying $2,000 extra to get the car with a sunroof.

I'm not sure this is perfectly analogous. The RSA was originally offered at a $10K discount compared to the standard 911 instead of a significant premium like the GT3. I think the depreciation will inevitably continue.

The economic circumstances differ, but I agree that these cars are not an investment. Mileage and wear = depreciation. However, I can envision these cars 10-15 years out becoming collectible. If the RS America is getting collectible, this is a much more interesting car IMO.

Let's not forget, Fred Schwab of PCNA stated back in 1993 that the RSA was the "Porsche that the PCA built"... It was intended to be a stripped version of a Carrera 2, though certainly not a true RS. I think it is highly analagous to the 996 GT3 as the RSA was intended to be a street/track car. I would completelt agree that the 996 GT3 adds much more value than the RSA relative to the "base" 911 due to all of the unique enhancements. Give it 10 years, and these cars will be quite collectible with low miles. Too bad I like to drive mine!

I know you all agree with me - but the 996 GT3 is the most fun 911 that have I have ever driven. Period. (I am not really a Turbo fan, though would love to add a 94 Turbo to the stable - pure sex on wheels!)

The only thing collectible with the 6gt3 is the million smiles I get when I'm on track(I actually counted-not really). My car will never be a mint version and will never sell high dollar but for the track guys out there if it ever comes up to market-it'll be another million smiles(as mods go- slowly but surely-not quite there with stripping stuff yet but track ready). Well put Blake. The only thing "RS" about my '93 RSA was the "seam welded" body which I was told was somewhat of a fluke. It was said that some of the "shells" got mixed up on the production line with the RS shells and made it to the RSA..........
