If I start hearing of cars bursting in flames at amateur track events I will get a suit.
BTW over here they usually don't let you run in a t-shirt. Cotton long-sleve shirt is the minimum clothing standard.
I am not sure a bike suit is useful in a car. How is the fire protection on it?

Depends on the event really. I've been to private days at Calabogie and Tremblant where I've worn a T-shirt on hot days.

I wear my speed suit pictured below. It's cool and keeps everything packaged well for those high g corners. The thong between my cheeks took some getting used to but its worth the tradeoff of increased grip on my race seat.
As a bonus the track bunnies love it.

I am with Andrei - chinos and a long sleeved cotton shirt. Modern cars do not catch fire a whole lot. I own a finest kind Sparco suit and wear it only when I MUST. Too freaking hot in summer and too much like a poseur the rest of the time.

Stand21 reporting. Not trying to be poser but like 315s reports I too have seen cars burst into flames at DE’s, mostly late models after impact with wall but nevertheless fire is fire. I still have my family and day job to get back to.

Hey, Dell, I chose the least "in your face" color. You should see the white with black RS my wife just received! Besides the Sparco does not handle my hip flask of Glenmorangie - an essential for instructors

Christian - I have personally supervised DEs for the last 10 years or so. That is over 120 days worth. Only once did a car catch fire. It was oil on the headers when a 934 engine blew up. I still have a con-rod I collected as a souvenir. The driver opened the door and walked away.
Older cars with carbs did have the occasional small engine fire attributed to vapor lock which is why PCA suggests we have a fire extinguisher.
There are many more crashes on the roads than on the track. How many cars catch fire? I won't dis you if you feel safer in Nomex, I just don't wear mine unless I am obliged to (racing for example).

I started wearing my nomex ( very hot ) in the Radical after it caught fire the second time. Don't wear it in the P-car unless I am driving both cars back to back. Just cotton long sleeves and pants. Never drive without one of my two pairs of lucky boxers though, Spung Bob or Spider man. To date Spider man is slightly faster.
Chris, that just ain't right. On hot days you must have to use a spatula to separate your cheeks from the leather seats.
