Hello to all...

I just wanted to introduce myself and get in the mix so to speak...

I just purchased a 2004 GT3 a few weeks ago.

6900 miles (now almost 8000)
Lapis Blue Metallic
Full black leather
Xenon
Stainless door sills
P crest in head rests
AC

Dealer was asking $84 without CPO.

I ended up paying $80500 with CPO.

Not the best deal, but I valued the rare color and that it was local.

No track time according to previous owner and PPI from Indy said all was good. Previous owner traded in to original selling dealer on a 997 GT3.

Test drove on Friday, purchased the following Tuesday and I am really enjoying it.

My wife made me promise -- no mods -- all mods stop on the current car (E39M5) and no mods on the GT3... with my fingers crossed I agreed ... We have our first baby on the way so she is getting serious now...

I have not figured out how to post pics over here yet but I will soon.

Welcome.

$80K is a fine price for GT3. Nothing comes close for that dollar. Enjoy.

Congrats! Have fun.

Regardless of what Mooty says, no mods needed. Accessories, maybe. I have RS bumper, spoiler, cf wing blade; track wheels, tires and brake pads; Euro GT3 seats with HANS device and Schroth HANS harnesses; Traqmate; trailer; and heaven knows what else. But no mods needed!

Sounds like a more than reasonable price with CPO. With the $ you saved, you can buy lots of accessories!

No mods?

I said the very same thing when I bought my CAB and then again when I bought the GT3. I don't even want to get into what I have spent on misc crap for the cars. I totaled it up once ( ) and found out I could have bought another entire car. Granted it would have been a boxster but still.

Guard your wallet as we are not good influences on your mod addiction.

So that's how you've been rationalizing it JH! Telling the wife you need to "accessorize"......very brilliant taking a line form the ladies

You better cut up your credit cards now, its impossible to own a gt3 and not buy gifts for it.

let me explain about the no mods (for a while)...

since last October:
married last october (not a cheap wedding and she basically paid for it)honeymoon (not cheap and I paid for it)
sold her house
sold my house ($21K capital gains bill coming at me next year)
bought a new bigger and nicer house
I bought a CPO E39 M5 and dumped about $15K into it (love it)
She is now 5 months preg.
I am having Griots makeover my garage (Lista cabinets, work bench, race deck, etc $$$)
I paid cash for the GT3
Nursery to furnish (I wrangled a free crib though!)

she has not definitively said no mods or "accessories", ok well she has... but in light of the the extreme outflow of cash (mostly me) I heard "slow down for a while"...

She is thinking about slowing down at work and about future college tuition etc... and I had GT3 on the brain...

Pre GT3 purchase and a couple of days after the test drive I was doing some yardwork while she was relaxing - I took a break from pulling weeds, told her that I loved her, and told her that on Tuesday (dealer closed on Monday) I was going to buy the GT3... I was sorry if she disagreed, but I am a man of action and it had to be done before the baby comes... she smiled and said she already knew that there was no stopping me and that she was glad that she was able to get me to to the yardwork (I was being particularly cooperative with the honey-dos after the test drive)

She said do it now becasue it will only cost more if you wait... then she asks
"Are you sure you will be happy with a 996?"
this from a woman who probably could not identify a Porsche a year ago!

Yes honey I am sure... so far so good...

Thanks for the slippery slope warning... I slid down the M5 slope a little... so I know to stay away from the edge, so to speak...

Quick question -- If you were to do the GMG harnes bar and your car was Lapis blue... would you go with a black bar or color matched?

Depends how much you want it to be noticed. Color matched would look awesome but obviously stand out more.

I have the GMG roll bar and it's very nice and high quality. Mine is black in a black car with black interior, most people don't notice it.

Congratulations on the car, you won't regret it!

Why not try the "safety" equipment spin???

That bought me SRf fluid, Pagid pads, new rotors, new tires (R-compound, of course), new rear toe arms, new front splitter, rear wing shims.... And here is the kicker: I have a long torso (true) and my head hits the ceiling in a helmet giving me some serious neck pain after each DE... Believe me, I could live with it as DEs are my life - BUT- my wife has MADE me promise to buy the Euro seats, roll bar, and harnesses to protect myself and help my neck... Oh yeah!

Now, I need to figure out how to spin the Traqmate software and video cameras as they NEED to be part of the equation.... Then come Motons, Monoballs, etc. etc..

Beautiful car, and a beautiful color. We want to see pics!

Enjoy it.

Welcome to the GT3 world! When I first bought my GT3 I thought I was going to leave it stock (haha!) That might have lasted for two weeks, the most.

My mods in no particular order:
1) LWFW Kit
2) Buckets seats (Cloth)
3) Console delete
4) Tequipment Roll bar
5) Schroth 6 pt. belts
6) Fikse wheels with Yokohama A-048
7) TRG Toe arms and drop links
8) Brembo front floating rotors with Ferodo pads (front & rear)

Now I'm looking for an OEM RS wing and cup splitter. I'm also thinking about the Manthey air collector and cooling air kit, which will improve downforce and cooling.

I try to attend as many track days as I can and enjoy the car as much as I can. You're going to love the GT3, if you don't already.

Welcome to the club, will you be attending the Seattle track day on August 2nd? Hope to see you their.
