Infineon-July 1st-1st time in GT3- question?
Hello and good day to all. It'll be my 1st time there in the GT3 but wanted to know turn by turn what gears you're in? I know the track by heart with my ratted out GTI but with the GT3 I need a little help and like to know those who went what spots(turns) you gotta be careful. Visualizing I'm looking 4th gear before t1 then downshift to 3rd before t2 then upshift to 4th before t3 then downshift to 3rd before t3 and still on 3rd thu t4 then up to 4th before carousel then downshift to 3rd tru the carousel then 4th all the way to T7 hen 3rd thu t7 and thru the esses then 4th all the way to t11 then 2nd gearat t11. What u think? Mike

I have never driven Infineon, but with the large power band on your 3, I would expect 3rd gear to be appropriate for most secitions. When I am learning a new track, I try to find the line first while mostly in 3rd and then worry about gearing... Have fun!

Get rid of the exige and your set : ). I will never ever see holger on a track day. He prefers weekdays. With my work situation I be lucky doing a sunday track day. I blocked out that week july 28/29 since i don't like going up there for just one day. Hell I take guards red ne day : ). Regards. Mike

T2 and the esses at exit would concern me. I'm just going slow and wave the conga line behind me(because of me) : (. Ne one with insite to gearing-would be pretty much appreciated. mike

4th up T1, lift or slight brk.
once to the left, brk hard, down to 2nd or 3rd, personal pref, to make T2
3rd for T3 and 3A.
peg 3rd gear redline for T4 and 5
if you are fast, you will be in 4th up for carousel.
depending on how well i did T4-5, i would be either in 3rd or 4th down the carousel.
2nd at T7
3rd right before esses, by exit i'll be in fourth, all the way to T11.
then down to 2nd.

For a more "conservative"/slower approach:
-can get away without using 2nd in T7 and T11 (maybe not as fast but eliminates risk of power oversteer, esp T11/walls)
-if not maxing out front straight or slowing to point others by, stay in 3rd, which also eliminates the downshift for T2 which can get busy, at least for me in that short braking zone.
-stay in 3rd until after Carousel
-After T7, I short shift to 4th before the esses, so I don't have to deal with it later, trying to squeeze in an upshift in between esses.
-Stay in 4th until T11.

i think T11 HAS to be taken in 2nd, and squeeze the throttle SLOWLY.
canyon, you need to get some r compounds and chase down holger.

Canyon, time to step up on the tires.
Take it from someone who knows, r comps will move you up the learning curve and not just make you go faster. You'll brake later, accelerate sooner & apex later. You won't learn any of this on PS2's.
