Wing shim Q for Dell and others

Wing shim Q for Dell and others
Dell, I'm installing the RS wing and I saw your post seeking opinions on the 4º vs. 8º shims. What did you decide? What has your track experience been? Did you try both?
Any others with shim opinions, preferably with the RS wing, please chime in.
Also, here's a cosmetic question. My car is black. I'm debating whether to paint the shims black or Guards Red. My thought with respect to red is that it would be a subtle accent that would tie in with the red brake lenses, red brake calipers and red belts. Opinions?

whether you use 4 or 8 degree shims you should balance the car with the cup front splitter (Austin at TRG)...the shim angle should be determined by the track you are on...the 8 degree will give you significant rear downforce (good for high speed sweepers) but will also add additional drag if the track has any long straights...I have found good balance at LS, BW and WS with 4 deg and the cup front splitter...you should try both and decide....the shims are cheap...they are also a fugly color so you will want to do something with them...if black you won't see them...don't know if you want that small amount of red showing...here...you can visualize....

I have the 8 degree shims with the RS/Cup splitter currerntly. I give up some speed on the long back straight but it is a compromise I am willing to make so I can be more planted on the high speed (140+) sweeper on the front straight. I am going to order a set of 4 degree shims so I can compare and capture some data to see what (if any) difference there is.
FYI....the shims come in RED! I painted mine yellow. I'll paint the 4's black so I can easily tell the difference.

Sounds like 4º for street and home track, PIR (no high speed sweepers),and 8º for Thunderhill and Sears (high speed sweepers).
I do have the RS splitter from Austin.
Now I only have to decide whether to paint 'em red or black.

Could be, but looks like I'll need to wait even longer before I can rehab. Had a doc appt today because the ankle isn't healing. He referred me to a foot specialist to see if I need surgery. If I do, I'll probably have the shoulder done, too. That means NO track this year at all. I'll really need to work getting up to speed then.

you are right, "my" CV joints need replacement, but doc wife says that if they cut me open, they can fix the tear but will f*k something else. her ankle has had 4 surgeries for the SAME problem.... surgeons... what do they know
sure, you can have a go on my 997. better fix yourself up first.
