They didn't get any bids b/c they started it at 77K and the reserve wasn't even met! They should lucky to get 77K for it and that wold be overpaying. Another negative is that it has ZERO options (which is cool for the whole weight thing at the track) but not having full leather or bi-xenons is a deal killer for most.

no, sold all shoes after i drove boxster s in 2002. as much as i liked shoes, they do not handle well, unless you put some serious money into them. the rear suspension really needs help. there is no context with cayman s. the cay will eat up even S54 shoes all day.

if you can AX the shoe well, you would eat up all your competition in cay s.

Thumbs up

I agree. I agree. very good insight esp once I tame my coupe it will be unbelievable.

Currently, I am already competitive again cayman s with 996

I like both 996 and M coupe. Thinking of getting gt3 but the dealer is stubborn on his price. They are offering 75K. We might just have to meet in the middle.

Again, thanks for your input.

It is very weird that there are strangely large number of people who goes from M cars to a P cars. Not a lot of AMG to p car or Nissan to a P car.

Talking Let me take a stab at the "excuse" (not necessarily the answer)

That's because after you have been used to the "Ultimate Driving Machine" you want "No Substitute"!!!

Also, consider the average age of the BMW drivers compare to that of the Mercedes'; the former is a yonger crowd and falls right into the P-Car targeted customers as they age and wallet gets fatter.

I don't think it's weird at all. BMW doesn't offer a car that competes with the 911 in terms of sportiness, trackworthiness, and style. For that matter, nobody offers a car that competes with the 911 for those traits: V8 Vantage comes close, but isn't as good on the track, and is significantly more money.

Many of us "grew out of" the E46 M3 (including me). I really liked mine as a track car, but it came to the point where I was getting sick of maintaining the car for the track and constantly buying new bushings and bearings, messing with suspension, etc. I actually liked the E46 M3 so much that I have one as a street car, but it's the wrong choice for a track car.

For those of us who go to the track often with relatively stock cars, I think Porsche (and maybe Ferrari) is the only way to go.
