Unfortunately, (or-- fortunately-- depending on how you look at it) most people who buy Porsches don't read boards such as these and hence aren't savy to market conditions.
Some guy with lots of money and not a lot of specific knowlege of GT3's can walk onto a lot and the salesman will tell him that a 997 GT3 is not only not available, but IF you COULD get one it would be AT LEAST $10-$20 grand over sticker--- ie $135-145,000. SO, this 996GT3 with 5,000 miles has a few less horsepower, but is still the pinnacle of purpose Porsches, and you'd be a fool to pass it up at only $90,000---(book is MUCH higher!!) Still $50,000 less than a new one!!!!
Believe it, it happens everyday!

I believe it. Happens with any product when a purchase of passion is involved. Hopefully, when you're spending that kind of cash there is a little research done.
But then it could be purely emotional too and you got-to-have-it.

Reading this thread I couldn't help but wonder what you guys think my car is worth?
It's a 2005 GT3 w/ just over 850 miles on it. It has never been tracked and it is in 100% showroom new condition. The only options it has is X-lights, alum gauges and artic silver paint.
My detailer has a few pics on his web site. Please click on the link below and give me your feedback:

$85K, no offense, but that's the mkt for knowledgeable GT3 buyers.

I would agree, closer to 80 if he wants to sell it quickly, closer to 85 if he has a few months. After that it will just keep slipping slightly over the next couple years til I imagine it starts to stabilize in the 60's.

I just can not understand how you can spend that much money on a performance car, own it for two to three years and put less 2000 miles on it. I'm not criticizing it, I just don't understand it.
Where these collectors that thought this would be the one and only GT3.
