good price or not?
hey guys, newbie here.
i have recently been interested in acquiring a 996 gt3. i found one at jim ellis porsche here in atlanta w/27k miles going for 81k. the miles seem a little high compared to my search over the internet, but i wanted to get your guys imput on this one. tried to post link of car but i dont have enough post yet
side note: dealer says engine was replaced by porsche after 25k miles, so the engine is basically brand new. that seemed a little strange, so i asked to speak to the previous owner to see what really happened to the car for a engine replacement after only 25k mile. i'm waiting to speak to him

Unfortunately for some of our Rennlisters who drove their GT3 a lot, the higher mileage lowered the sales price. A normal buyer who does some research will quickly see that there are far more GT3 for sale with under 10,000 miles than over. 30,000 miles is not an issue on these cars.
The engine replacement is very rare. There was a recall on about 20 GT3 because of some bad internal engine components (Porsche dealerships were authorized to repair those engines).
What is the warranty on that replacement engine? That might affect the sales price.

I only saw this one from the street while driving by, so I don't know much about it. Good reference point though. Probably a consignment car because this place usually asks for a premium price.

however, like you said, compared to what's out there, a 20k+ car is like dinasour.

I drove that car on Saturday. It has definately been tracked. Look at the rotors, and, more significantly, the picture on autotrader of the tires - they are Yoko R compound tires (now it has new PS2s).
Also, I think it has a new hood. The original owner posted comments somewhere about it a few months ago when he was trying to sell it.
