Question

Again,

Thanks for all the insight. You guys are awesome. I'm feeling more and more that the GT3 seats are not the right match for a short guy like me, or an old clunker like Rufus. I've started looking at the Cobra Misano seats... they recline and flip (which I like), and look nice to my eyeball. Gotta try to get my skinny *** in one though.

Any experience with these?

I had to double check I was on rennlist and not "World's Hottest Super Models" with the measurements given out.

the super models thing. thought it was pretty funny.

seriously, though, those seats you have pictured look pretty nice, too.

What's the deal with Ruf seats? Just take too long or too $$?

Stedge,

I have been waiting for a set of used Ruf seats from a guy that was gonna put something else in his car. A year and a half, I've been waiting. Looks like its never gonna happen. Ruf seats new are ~$6500 for the pair. I've got the standard Posche seats (not sports seats) in Rufus, and its time for something a little more aggressive looking and feeling. Dang it.

That price is ludicrous. Absolutely get something else.

Didn't mean to hijack. Just making fun of all you skinny guys! Just jealous!

Hope some seats find their way under the tree...

Steve,

Doesn't Paul (OG) have GT3 seats? You should try that out extensively before you jump in. I totally agree about the ingress/egress part. It is definitely tough to get out. Felt like I was sitting in a Venus Fly Trap.

OG had my GT3 seats.
it's not hard to get out, you have to learn how to get out. the thing is how your should fits into the darth vader seat, that usually cause more prob than the *** part.

if that doesnt work, pole position is better on the shoulder.

Do a search has I herd of a clearance issue with reclining **** against tunnel.

Really nice seats but I think by not having plastic rings around the sholder belts opening (only seat back side), the leather would not last long with the belts rubing.

Steve I put Sparco's Pro 2000 seat in my TT. Extemely comfortable, I used to drive to hell and back (my ex's in Santa Barbara) to get my son and I never had an issue with that seat. Go to Werks and sit in a few differnet seats....

Does anybody have an idea on the weight difference between the stock seats that come with the GT3 car and the Porsche non adjustable GT3 seats? I started looking at 996 turbos, and are now looking at the GT3's. Miss my old RSA

JR,

I think the entire Sparco line are non-adjustable race buckets. I'm pretty convinced I want a seat that reclines and flips forward. Gotta flip so I can carry a couple of bags of steer manure on that rear shelf.

I've got both sets of seats with the GT3 seats in the car. Pure guess only, but the GT3's are probably 20lbs and the factory electric everythings are 60lbs. Big differance.

IMO, all good comments above. To me, it's not the comfort but the in/out that makes the seats a bit more of challenge. The car is pretty impractical anyways so the seats seem like a good match.

I kept the orignal seats thinking I might reinstall them but now I'm sure I never will. Now my big debate is do I hang onto them for resale?

I came to the same conclusion and sold mine.
