fabspeed muffler bypass pipes are nowhere near 92db...I was black flagged at Laguna with the stock exhaust while pulling 7500rpm to turn 6 on a 90 db day...it only takes 10 minutes to put the mufflers back on so do it...otherwise you will be blackflagged if you idle it through turn 5 and 6...

Great mod & well worth the money. I had the guys at Sonnen install mine & do the alignment at a very reasonable price.

Correct.

He swapped my arms, so he's familiar with them. Charged me an hour to do it. Also, make sure to ask for the PCA discount on all the work.

I'd also recommend you get a more aggressive alignment than the stock settings, even if you just plan to drive on the street.

heheh... bypass pipes...Laguna Seca...lol. I have a set of bypass pipes also. I was running them at Thunderhill some this year, but I hear they too are now monitoring for sound...sheez. Seems like the only place you can use them now is on the STREET. lol. Strange how that is.

so far they are no problem at Buttonwillow or Willow Springs, but I am sad to hear that T-hill is now sound monitoring...your comment about the street really made me laugh...I got caught speeding (intant on laser)...after I got the ticket I took my time hoping the cop would leave but the jerk just sat there...I didn't want to start the car with him behind me...fortunately the bypass pipes aren't quite as loud on a warm startup as they are when the car is cold and I limped off almost at idle...he didn't get me for the pipes...

need a difuser. They are way cool. Cost a lot $2500 but the laser gets an error code. You then have time to slow down. Works great depending on your driving habits can pay for itself.

GT3 Chuck, I found a way to "avoid" the LOUD *** sound on cold start when using the bypass pipes...well, you can minimize it at least.

Start the car and let it run for 2 seconds or so... shut her off. Start her back up and no more BLAP BLAP BLAP. I think (fairly certain) the loud noise is caused by the airpump coming on the heat the cats (used to meet CARB cold start emissions requirements). Apparently, it is "hot enough" after a few seconds to trick the sensor into thinking the cats are "warm", so it does not engage the air pump. Worth a shot...works for me, and my neighbors appreciate it at 5am, I am sure (although I only get frowns when my car comes up in conversation )

edit: Oh yeah, it is still a bit louder than normal when you do this, but I think that is just because she is running so rich when cold...

bypass pipes are quite loud. i registered 103dB at around 3k RPM with a hand tester b4 they let me on the track. And you guys have 200cc more displacement than i do

The real question is, how much do turndowns help with noise.
