Just teasing !
I have about 18,000 range 1 and I was a little worried that it was getting a little high but, I guess I have a long way to go. My home track has a few stretches that make bouncing off the limiter necessary to be quicker. I won't feel guilty about it anymore.

You know, I forgot to follow up on this thread. Thanks for reminding me!
I took it to the local PCar dealer back in March. They fixed it under warranty, and I remember their work order charged Porsche $222. I just looked at my invoice, and they note the following:
*replaced camshaft variable timing solenoid
*replaced vario cam valve (996-105-303-71)
Everything has worked fine since...
Good luck!

Just picked up my car this past Wednesday, July 11th. Wow, what a wait!!
A VarioCam Actuator had to be replaced in the right bank. The engine had to be removed to make the repair (not a big deal in a 911) and the part had to be ordered from Germany. Apparently it had to be manufactured as there was no stock. This took 2.5 weeks. Diagnosing the problem with Porsche and making the final fix added 3 more weeks.
All was covered under warranty. The dealer was still figuring out the bill but, for obvious reasons, he wanted me to get my car to me, so I don't know all the bits that went into the repair.
So far I have only run it up to 8000 rpm in 2nd gear and it appears to be as good as new!! Will know for sure when I take it to Calabogie on Monday.
