Mooty for some reason I think in the future which is kinda scary if we should ever meet at the track is your going to have all that stuff ie twin turbo/vtech : (. Hey who cares what people put into their cars ie labels and all as long as they drive the s**t out of it and beatiing us at the track-that I give respect to- the driver. Regards. Mike

I will argue this one as there are those of us you debadge for a cleaner look on our high end cars. And many, many more that do it to be posers. In my travels around Eastern Europe where an S4 is about Prevalent as an Ardvark in San Francisco, there where tons of debadged 2-2.5L "high-line" cars trying to pose as their V8 equiped counterparts. Some were even complete with the correct wheels, etc.

Very true, I use to live just outside London and this optomistic practice was in full effect for the wrong reasons.

I personally like the phenomenon of down-badging. After I took the M3 badge off my E46 M3, I went looking for a 318cd badge; alas, an unsuccessful search.

If the car is recognizable as its model without the badge (i.e. unique trim, exhaust tips, etc), I say remove the badge. And if you want to demoralize your track buddies as you pass them, down-badge.

x2 I have debadged nearly every car i have ever owned, and most of the time it was the more "desireable" model. The badges look goofy when they are glued on to a car that is beautiful in and of itself . . .

My coworker was all excited that he saw a GT3 in So Cal the other week. He took pics and wanted to show me. As soon as he did, I identified it as a poser and pointed out the bits that gave it away. He was bummed... :-))

I think that is why people pose...most people have not idea what is real and what isn't. So most can eaisly be fooled, and that is why they do it.

I always tended to be the opposite. I debadged both of my M3's. I figured if you didnt know what it was, then it didnt matter anyways.

So, when I get my 997 next year and put the GT3 front end on it and the small Techart wing on the back will I be labeled a poseur? It WILL NOT have any badging on it other than Carerra.

I won't do it for people to think I have a GT3. I'll do it because the GT3 front end is head and shoulders nicer than the stock 997 and 997TT front ends.

After that, it goes for the EVOMS supercharger upgrade.

They are selling the 997 with the GT3 Aero Kit in Europe without GT3 badging. Porsche car history is full of beautiful "Turbo Look" and other aerodynamic look versions. Nothing wrong with those machines.

Not at all. You're just modding, not calling it something it's not.

However, that modding deal is a slippery slope....

Agreed. That's why I'm so considering remval of the center caps on my C2. The previous owner put on 'turbo' wheels and of course the center caps say 'turbo'. Hm.. I could pull the caps off my 964 but.. wait.. won't work.. they are the dished center wheels.

Anyone want to swap badges. I'm no poser, just don't want to have 'no' center caps until I can replace the wheels with something else.. :/
