996 GT3 Exterior Color Data
Since several Rennlisters have asked about the exterior color distribution and Porsche AG does not provide that, I am sharing color information from my own data base (by VIN).

MetalSolid;
It is fun to estimate using statistics (assume my sample population is reflective of the entire North America specification production run).

Many of us would likely help out by submitting the info on our cars if we knew more about what you're looking for.

Historically, Porsche AG does not share the kind of information many of us are interested in. You think they would have an on line library one could subscribe to for some of this data. So... I have collected data on my own on 996 GT3 cars. It is time consuming but fun. I enjoy helping people looking for information on a particular GT3 (usually to purchase) or trying to address questions such as the color distribution.
If you want to PM me with information about your GT3 the basic data is: VIN, exterior / interior colors, mileage, factory options, country and state that the car is located in. Modifications and warranty repairs are interesting notes too.
Some of you Rennlisters have had up to three GT3 cars so far !

This is kind of off-topic, but...
I notice that some folks don't like to give their VIN in a public forum. What could someone possibly do with a person's VIN? On eBay for example - a seller will put XXXX in the VIN to obscure it. Why?
thanks!
