There must be a fair number of '04 Cups around as there where three running in the GT2 class at a local SCCA event last weekend. On top of that, I know of several the weren't there and several more for sale. So I would guess that there are 200-300 here. Anyone think this is close?

driving a track cart on the street is most unpleasant, as anybody who has ever done it can attest. They are noisy, uncomfortable, fullo of nasty vibrations, intractable, scrape on everything, leak in the rain, attract attention from the wrong people and make their owners look short of a *****.
Really not a good idea, even something as tame as a GT3 Cup. Far better to take a GT3, GT3 CS or GT3 RS and have it modified by the likes of Ruf or Manthey for street use.

I'm surprised at how low that # is if 39 Cups were imported in '05 considering that 997 Cup were also on the production line at the same time. Kinda confirms the rumor I've heard that some of the '05 996 Cups were produced in late '04.

You car is looking good! 35 - 40 cars imported by PMNA and sold new to USA customers in 2004. Total 2004's built was around 110 for world wide distribution. I am sure there were other 2004's brought in or purchased from Supercup teams. There was no difference in 2004 and 2005 Cup cars. My 2005 was delivered in late December of 2004, built in November 2004. I believe "all" the 996 Cups for 2005 were building in Oct. - Dec 2004.
All 2005 997's Cups went to Supercup and were also built in late 2004.

Production
The VIN sequence is specific for the cup car for each year. I have seen numbers up into the 80s for some years and dont recall seeing anything higher as of yet. I found these VIN numbers listed on cars for sale on various sites world wide. I DID get the 05 North American import numbers for the 2005 cup car, 39 cars. As for total world wide production the answer I got was and unoffical "its unoffical and on a need to know basis, there is no reason you need to know, and accually they (porsche) wont tell us".

Sequence
My cup and another member on this board both have near new unraced 2005 cup cars that are one digit from each other we discovered the other day, what are the odds of that, likely the only two unraced cars with sequential numbers.
