How many hours of DE use can you get with a cup car engine
Anyone know how many hours of use you can get out of a GT3 cup engine with DE type usage, plus what would be needed to refresh it... a full tear down or a just top engine refresh etc..

I'd say 80-100 if you are nice to it Change the oil every other event & send it out for testing. If you monitor that & take care of her, you should have no problem logging 80+ hours. Non-PMNA refreshes are reasonable when you are ready & I bet you that if you take care of it, the motor will look like it didn't even need it inside when they tear it down. Go get 'em

for DE I have heard the same as JW mentioned. 80-100 hrs. RS/RSRs are in ther 40-60 hour range depending on if they are raced-DE. If you are not to rough on the motor you can get 80hours. Remeber to keep up with the work and also be sure to log the trans hours as well.

I'd say the low side of that range ($ 10-12k) from an independent, high side of the range from PMNA($20-25k). That would be for a motor that is running & in good shape just needing a refresh. I can think of to indies I would recommend without hesitation & my motor will be going to one of them in the next year or so. PM for names.

Around 15k for a top end only non-pmna is what i have heard, but i have not actually had my redone yet so i can't say that with 100% certainty. 30-50 is for RSR, i have never heard that number for a cup car. 60 - 80 hours is the magic number i was told when i called 2 different shops that do the work. i also know several with well over 100 + with no problems. has anyone see a cup car blow it's engine? i don't know of any yet.
i am really starting to believe that people that suggest a lower number are the engine rebuilders who have something to gain from it. i am going to start doing a leak down/compression test on mine when my engine gets up there on hours and use that as a guide to when it actually needs a rebuild. if i had a gt3 i would do the same too.

80 to 100 hrs depending on how high you rev it up
the car handles and performs the best if shifted at red line
i had a 2003 cup car
i did oil sampling after 5 hours and changed the oil every 10
at 65 hrs there was very little wear
you should cut the oil filter open and check for metal in the filter after every oil change
you have to do the clutch, check axles when freshing engine
also check tranny for wear
good luck

FWIW, I've got a PMNA 3.8 RSR (air cooled) motor and talked to them directly about life expectency. They strike me as VERY conservative. They said 30-40 hours W/O airfilters (screens only) if run to 8K RPM. However, they said 80-100 hrs if I set the revs to 7600 and use foam filters. Alex Job ran the PMNA motors in qualifying trim 2 hours and sent them back. Yeow.
