Is that all you need to do, that is bolt the scoop to the rear deck lid?
You don't need to change anything on the interior side of the deck lid for this to "work"?

The RS comes with this but the HP is listed as the same as the US GT3. You RS guys ... is Porsche sandbagging or is it a cosmetic piece?

I got mine from these guys.

http://www.ap-car-design.de/porsche-tuning/

If you look under Produkte, they call it Direct-Air-Intake-System

Pretty cheap, but a pain to deal with.

Parr Motorsport say these are worth 18bhp @ 120mph & help the engine run cooler.

The Retail price was $262. I got a 5% discount which made it $248.50 plus shipping. Mine is being painted today and will be installed tomorrow.

They do quote the same bhp, but there was a good article in Excellence magazine a while back where they had the project lead talking about the RS (Andreas Preuninger - he is lead on the 997 GT3 too). He mentions that on the bench dyno all RS engines make nearly 400bhp with an expected 400+ once run in.

He then goes on to say that the intake adds 15-18Mb pressure at 187mph, and that this is enough to create an additional 15bhp. It can't be homologated though since the output figures are homologated on a dyno.

I guess the hassle of homologation may be why they don't quote the RSs power as 400bhp?

Let's see, OE Porsche $1350, FVD $262, OE Porsche $1350, FVD $262, ... Can't believe there's $1000 of added value in the OE piece.

BTW, who's doing the painting, FVD?

No, I have a body shop who does really good work. I think the OE piece includes the whole deck lid. I can't believe they would charge that for this piece only.

Believe it, actually the OE version does not include the deck, just the piece of fiberglass, not even CF. Porsche really didn't want to sell these.

I have it on my Mk.1 and throttle response is for sure better at speeds above 55mph. Two or three holes need to be drilled together with doublesided tape but no big deal since the holes could easily be filled should one want to remove the scoop. Mounting it is a PITA as the bolts on the inside of the deck are very difficult to reach and tighten.

Ciao,

I have a CF version that I was planning to install on my C2 MK1/Aero kit car before I sold it. If your a perfectionist, The clear coat would need to be resprayed (clear) as it does have a few minor scuffs. Or you can paint to match if CF is not your thing. I will offer it here before I put it on ebay.

I will sell it for $300 shipped. (paypal ok)
