I dunno the total figure but c.1200 is the CGT cap, so maybe why the figure was in your mind.

Apparently the UK got a load of parallel imports from S.A. & HK as well, which might go some way to explain the residuals. Still I can't complain, its the only reason I'm in one. Time for the residuals to bounce now I've bought however

The UK is a pretty strong market for niche performance cars though. Even the hatchaback makers realise this...

Before you get too congratulatory, the UK also has the highest concentration of convertibles........ How much does it cost to get a hair cut and a blonde rinse over there these days, must be bloody expensive

The last rare Porsche from Porsche was the 993 GT1, even complicated by the street/race and MkI/Evolution versions, none of the 996s are 'rare', nor is the CGT, which has just exhausted its customer base.
Strange view on production numbers App. 300 RS were made, not many in other words! Much less than the CGT.

So of 300 produced, the UK got 120? 214 stayed in Germany? Lets see, thats 320 in two countries alone, and I know some went elsewhere.

Hardly surprising there is some confusion, part of the P legend are the shenanigans with the 917 production numbers to meet FIA requirements.

Porsche AG must have a department dedicated to creating chaos over frequently asked questions.

They sure keep us Americans guessing !

Anyway, I'm trying to remember the import waiver rules in the US for RoW cars (996 GT3 RS). Is it five years ??? 2003 996 GT3 RS eligible in 2008 ?

Cheapest one is as you say 65 GBP and the next one 72 GBP. I bought an RS (like new, 6000km) not long ago so let's hope supply dries up even more so we don't loose alot of money when it comes to selling. I live in Sweden though so the market differs from the UK.

There has only been app. 300 RS made.

that is what some people say, and the factory would have you believe

However, the number in Germany plus those in the UK come to more than 300 alone. So I don't think we can accept the 300 figure.

Everybody who owns one, wants it to be rare and 'collectable'. In this day and age, that probably merans getting one from Ruf! Whose production volumes are small and the cars have a history of holding their value well.

I agree, there are probably more around than 300; my guess would be around 500 from what I have heard and read. Still, not many cars considering other manufacturers.

Ruf in all honour, fantastic cars but there is something special with an original Porsche RS. Although I am looking forward to the 997 GT3 and the RS version.

Samuel
That is a correct number, even verified by a Swedish OPC.
2/3's are in red.
Sweden's total number is 22 official imported cars, I know of only 3 blue.

Mine is red.

Good news then, my blue one should hold its value better

Strangely (and perhaps uninterstingly) when I bought, almost all the available ones in the UK were blue despite the sales ratio of blue to red being 1:3 or thereabouts. I'm glad though as I happen to prefer it. Tends not to photo quite as well as red though.
