Ti is getting cheaper all the time. Ti springs are standard on the VW Lupo, a Euro only 'Bonsai' car which is economical to rum and needs to save as much weight as possible.
German manufacturers are also using more and more Magnesium in their cars, these days the fire risk is minimised (remember Mickey Maus?)

Believe it or not, I had a dream about this subject last night. I'm sure you guys are right, I'm not an engineer, just a common sense kind of guy and things have to make sense to me. I can see how it would contribute to the unsprung weight. Now something else to spend obscene money on....

Ferrari uses TI springs on the 360 CS, Porsche will surely follow.
