Howdy all,
Bought an 06 V70R a couple weeks ago as a daily driver.
Not bad, not bad at all. Fast, relatively nimble, and very neutral handling.
Better than I expected and in a station wagon too.

My inlaws and the wife are all Volvo freaks... they have had almost every model... my inlaws currently drive a XC90... wife use to have a S70 T5... great cars and an excellent safety rating. Good choice as a second car.

I have a 2004 V70R. Great car, lots of fun for a wagon. The interactive suspension is a ball.

Yeah, Volvo did a pretty good job with this version of the R. I had a chance to drive one on track at Mt Tremblant back in 04. Volvo rented the track and supplied the cars for free. Although not a 911, it did pretty well and the brakes stood up way better than the brakes on my 2000 V70R which I had also driven at the same track.
BTW, to turn the traction control completely off (in case you want to do donuts in the snow or something), you have to hit the on/off button in a certain sequence. Something like [on-off-on-off-on-off (hold for 5 seconds)]. Can't exactly remember, but the Volvo reps were turning it off for the skidpad to show the difference.
