Concern over GT3 fuel line/hoses
Guys,
There might be a reason for concern relating to the fuel hoses on the GT3. The design is such that the rubber fuel hoses run just over the left cylinder bank headers and we all know how hot this area gets. What also strikes me as unbeliveable is that the hoses are just pushed on to the connectors on the fuelfilter/fuelrail/piping without the use of hose clamps!
Worst case, the hoses become brittle from the heat and the engine vibrations cause the hoses to come off. God help us!
Have any of you Pro GT3 racers gone down the route of braided hoses with crimped on connectors to be on the safe side?

Again, pro guys have the exhuast running in a different config, so that is not a huge issue. But you are 100% correct. For the street car this was without a doubt a very stupid design from Porsche, who pride themselves on design.

No, its ok. I dont think any of us are going to have issues. Its not a header issue, its a placement issue.
I say take off the mufflers every so often and take a look at the lines and hoses.

Hey Cos,
I thought some guys here might run cars with original or similar header/exhaust set up. I'm stil concerened, my car is a 2000 model with 50000km on it (whatever that is in miles) and trackdays are not uncommon. To take off the headers sound a bit teadious and I would rather do a permanent fix.

When I crashed mine, the fuel line split and I got a gas fire. Turned out to be what totaled the car. Body damage could have been made "reasonable". New engine was required. Insurance company said too much $$$ and totaled it.
Wonder if a braided line would have saved me from the fire??

Johannes,
The headers are so simple to take off it is a joke.
That is my only suggestion. Remove the headers every so often and visualy inspect them. My math might be off, but 50k km = about 32k Mi. I think.
