Default Differences between Turbo & GT2

Hi all,

Please pardon my "newb-ness".

What makes the 996 GT2 so different from the 996 Turbo?

I know that the GT2 does not have PSM and is RWD.

Technically what makes the GT2 so much different and better than the Turbo?

Thank you.

Best regards.

Lack of PSM and RWD are two important differences. If by "technical", you mean differences in engine or turbocharger used then there is not that much difference especially between the GT2 and the 996TT with X50 option package. The ECU is different in all the variants so as to be optimal for the particular car i.e. 996TT, GT2, 996TT X50.

Ran,

Thanks for the reply.

When I mean "technically" I mean engine differences, suspension differences, etc.

I would like to know as much about the GT2 as I can. So info on all aspects are welcome.

Thanks.

Doesn't engine have titanium connecting rods too and lighter reciprocating parts plus seam welded chassis? I just lie to know how they ended up losing so much weight to point its just slightly heavier then the GT3 : ). Is the extra front wheel drive that more heavy? Regards. Mike

From memory:
- different engine setup with different turbo (but comparable to X50)
- RWD
- different suspension
- different wheels
- PCCB standard
- no sunroof
- no rear seats
- no PSM

I have upgraded from a TT to a GT2. Both cars feel very different.
