Default GT3 vs. GT2 ?

Two questions:

I remember reading at some point that the GT3 body/tub is stiffer than a carrera. It was seam welded or something. I can't find a clear answer in the search tool. Is the GT3 body different from a rigidity standpoint vs. a C2?

How does the ride and handling of the GT3 compare to the GT2? I've not driven a GT2 but have riden in one. It's didn't seem like the handling was as "hard edged" as a GT3. Are spings rates and height similar to a GT3? Thanks.

The GT3 starts out as a C4 unibody, and then it's seam welded for extra stiffness. A stock C2 feels like al dente pasta by comparison.

Not sure on the GT2-GT3 comparo, my rides in the GT2 felt similar, but I've never driven one on the track.

Cheers,
Bruce

Very similar except that in the right hands the GT2 is second only to the CGT and in the wrong hands it is your biggest nightmare.

A GT2 is a GT3 with more torque and horsepower. So, in a GT2 the power goes down faster. therefore you have to be prepared (and capable) to react faster if you want to go to the "limit".

The "caution" factor is (should be) bigger in the GT2 until the above skills are practiced and honed.

Both ride about the same, but the GT2 has more front overhang and requires a little more care on driveways etc.

Also in the GT3 you can manually adjust the ride height.

Gt2 is heavier in the rear, has progressive springs and a ton more pwr. GT3=track, GT2=Street.

A ton more power to be sure. I still love the whoosh of any of the Pcar turbos. The progressinve springs explain why I thought it was a bit less harsh.

Talking Am I still allowed???

I am not going 996 Cup Car so fast. I am looking into getting a Grand Am spec M3. I want to run that car in both BMW and Porsche Race series.

Porsche will let me race the BMW, but BMW won't let me race the Porsche. I don't have the room or financial resources for two complete dedicated track cars. I would love to do a 996 Cup car and the Grand Am spec e46 M3, so for me it's a fun factor. I will race the BMW for a season in both clubs and pick up a 997 Cup next year. I have a 997 street GT3 on order and a nice M5 is in the works for spring, so I am ok.

Sounds like BMW is scared of the Pcar, but not the otherway around!
