Very.... good times i have run VIR alot I just bought the GT3 and only tracked it twice the first time complete alignment disaster second time on streets 1 sesion on slicks i would say i was driving 6 th 10th or 7/10ths i was turinng 2:16 consistantly the car is new to me so i would say dropping below 2:10 wont be a problem on the full course. but i will say anything under 2:10 is a very very fast time. i have been there with almost every group out there and anything around 2:15 is very respectable,,,
when you go below that dude it is just plain fast.... cup cars run 2:02 -2:04 on track days....

hopefully i will see some of you folks in pca stuff this year...
i could never get below 2:15 in the 997 with slicks by the way

The Cayenne Turbo has ample power to pull that much weight, but the recommended tongue weight is not to exceed 610 pounds. When I shifted the weight around in my Featherlite trailer to make it 610 pounds tongue weight and a total weight of around 7150 pounds, it was VERY scary pulling it. The tongue weight should be 10-15% of the total weight of the trailer. The Cayenne simply cannot handle a trailer like that safely. Now with my 1800 pound Trailex, I estimate the total weight to be around 5500 pounds with my GT3 and all my gear. This will make a perfect setup for the Cayenne.
There are other options available such as an 18' ATC. I think someone on this board has one and pulls it with his Cayenne S. Do a search on this site about towing with the Cayenne and you will find all the info you might need.
Damn...thanks for the sobering info Matt. My main thrust for an enclosed trailer was to have the ability to have another car(racer) under cover. I only have a 2 car garage...alas a race car is realistically 5 years away, so I guess I will go open trailer for now... I look forward too and I am sure we will meet next season. The hit I took off the pipe last time out was too strong and eyez am jonsing for track time...

Boulder,

I raced 4 races at VIR this summer. I had a 1997 993 that was converted to RSR (as close as I could get it) 375HP 2500# with 1 hour of fuel and no driver. My fastest lap was 2:04:03. Another 993RSR got to 2:03:1.

To compare the stock GT3 street cars were about 2 seconds slower than my car at Watkins Glen for the PCA race. Watkins Glen is about a second faster than VIR for most Porsches.
