Watt,
you must be getting one of the first Z06's in the country?
e-mail me if you dont have the picture of Dave Hill giving the photographer
the finger while driving new Z06.

Watt,

Can't wait to hear your driving impressions when your Z06 arrives. Keep us posted.

with the z06 doing a 7.43, i'm hoping the new GT2 will do 7.30...
say 600 HP, 600T and 3100#....

Porsche wouldn't put bhp so close to CGT (612bhp), and they probably WILL have some invasive PSM-like device... if the rumors are true about the 997 GT3 having a WET SUMP motor ala the 997S, I think it's fair to say Porsche has decided to turn the GT breed into glorified street cars... in which case you'll be looking at PSM at the very least, maybe even sequential gearbox as standard, and in the worst case scenario, variable ratio steering... I wish they'd leave the techno-crap out of these machines and let US do the driving, isn't that what we pay for?

Hopefully I'm wrong on this!

isnt it hilarious that the Z06 has dry sump, and everyone expects wet sump from GT3???

face it we all have to drive z06's in protest

the CGT is not that relevant for GT2 as it's in the past, and Z06 is now and eating Porsche's lunch

Watt, you're right on both points. I (like many others) look forward to your impressions of the Z06!

As you said, they're just "rumors..." Rumors may end up being true or may be not be true at all...

You're right - but with Porsche, rumors can turn out to be either better OR worse... case in point "We're returning to racing" when in fact they're entering two cars in the most boring and least contested class in LeMans racing, LMP2...

My guess is, they'll keep the dry sump and solid drivetrain for the GT3RSRs, and make the street GT3 a glorified 997S. They seem more interested in cashing in on their image, than actually continuing to build on it...

Hope I'm wrong! It would be awesome to see the 997 GT3 and GT2 built with the same focus and quality as the 996 version. And even better if they are able to dethrone the Z06, which will be no small task...

I didn't really get that impression. The list of ring times I had, had both the z06 and 996 GT3 RS pegged at 7.40 with the RS on corsa motorsports.

Z06 is a fine car though, whichever way you look at it. Shame its overpriced in the UK & LHD only. Can't get over the poor quality cabin either.

Yeah the cabin leaves something to be desired, but after a seat swap and steering wheel, I think it would be greatly improved. Curious, how much are they in the UK?
