I have the 265/18 MPSC ...with NJ-GT help...no rubbing with stock wheels.

After a lapping day at Mosport... the larger tire's do help with understeer....still going with the Motons CS.

Last week I placed an order for the 1 piece BBS magnesium motorsport wheels...9/18 -11/18...with the GT3 Cup offsets....hope the 265/18 works with that 9" rim ....it should.

Holy fat rubber. Is that a K40 or jammer on the front plate?

It's not the K40, nor the Escort ZR3 either.

It's called EZpass

You won't have problems with the 9" front on the GT3Cup offset and the 265/35R18 tire. The rear offset on the GT3Cup is 59mm vs 63mm on the street GT3, that's a minor difference.

Someone at the Glen this week told me they had 315 MSPCs on the rear but they had to roll out the rear fenders...did you have to do the same?

Hold on a minute....275s on an 8.5" wheel and 335s on an 11" wheel....no thanks

I am sure the only time this works well is when the placebo effect is in full force!

I could see going 265s and 315s on the stock wheels (maybe??!?!) but this just doesn't make sense. Are you experimenting and do you have lap times to back it up?

Per Toyo Tires recommendations, these sizes fit on the stock wheels. I already ran 265/315 MPSC, but I didn't like the feeling on the rear 315. In fact my preferred combo on the MPSC is 265/295 (I have one set on my Tire storage). The RA1 is a slower tire than the MPSC.

Regarding times to back it up, I haven't compared the RA1 with the stock sizes MPSC back to back on a given track day. However, my best time at Pocono North last year on MPSC was almost a second slower than my best lap 2 weeks ago on RA1. Probably the new suspension and the shorter ring and pinion gear are helping, but that fastest lap was under light rain.

Anyway, it would be helpful to this forum if you can support your placebo effect theory.

G:

The front one is a 9" ET46 and the rear one an 11" ET59. I got this info from a 2004 GT3Cup user manual (bigger than a Quillet Enciclopedia)

He's probably just thinking that those tire sizes would be better taken advantage of with say, 9.5 inch wide front and 12 inch wide rear wheels.

My car was lowered to 118mm rear (on MPSC 265/295) and 102mm front when the new suspension was installed.

I've seen quite a few 996s running the 245/275 RA1 on the stock 8"/10" wheels. The feedback is that the MPSC is faster.

Call Bob Woodman Tires. They know these tires very well, and their prices are good. www.bobwoodmantires.com

These tires are great street tires. Very predictible at the track (lot of feedback), good wear, great wet traction (better than the MPS2), good autocross tires.

These days I use them for lapping days and practice events. For Time Trials or highly competitive autocrosses, the Kumho V710 does the work so much better than the Hoosier or the MPSC.

NJ-GT,

Is it okay to run at 118 ride height on the back?.

I thought if you go to low on the rear it throws off the geometry....making things bad.

Have you ever had wheel hop?

Last night I let it go at 4k rpm ..(first time).. I had wheel hop on the right side....hope nothing broke.

On the local Porsche Club Forum there was a thread on someone who had chipped his car by the Audi dealer and had problems that ended in court...It's a long story....engine got replaced..lot's of problems.
Stay clear of chips.
