Wheel hop is typical on the Boxster and 996. I don't know about the 997 but it probably does that, considering that car being a modified 996.

When I ran the 10mm lowered rear with the stock suspension, the car was aligned, but it didn't feel good at the track. Manthey Racing told me about a toe out condition on the rear end under heavy load, using a lowered rear on the stock suspension. I went with 0.35 toe in per side and it got fixed, but got 1800 miles and 2 track days out of a brand new set of MPSC. So I went back to stock rear height and 0.25 toe in.

On the stiffer suspension, I went lowered rear again, still at 0.25 toe in. The car feels on rails. I did 2 days at Lime Rock, and 3 days at Pocono Long/Pocono North on that setup. As long as the car feels ok, the lower center of gravity can't be bad.

Per Toyo Tires recommendations, these sizes fit on the stock wheels.
Perhaps, but surely not ideal.

In fact my preferred combo on the MPSC is 265/295.
Sounds right ot me! The MPSC like the wide wheel, narrow tire set up.

Regarding times to back it up, I haven't compared the RA1 with the stock sizes MPSC back to back on a given track day. However, my best time at Pocono North last year on MPSC was almost a second slower than my best lap 2 weeks ago on RA1. Probably the new suspension and the shorter ring and pinion gear are helping, but that fastest lap was under light rain.
That is interesting imformation. How much faster does the car feel with the new R&P?

Anyway, it would be helpful to this forum if you can support your placebo effect theory.
We've all seen it before....."Wow my car feels fast with the new xxxxxx". Maybe a loud muffler, open intake, stiffer sways, etc. These sporty mods trick us into thinking we are going faster but there are no numbers to back it up

It sounds like you are doing your best correctly test your new tires, but IMO they are still excessivly wide for the stock wheels.

Cheers

No idea. It's great that an American tire manufacturer gets to play hard on the DOT R-comp tires field. Enough with the foreign brands dominating the market and Hoosier Tires with awful product/customer support.

The 245/40 and 305/30 look like a great option.

John H...the GM engineer who races in the T1 series with the Z06 and always seems to win from what I have seen used the Goodyear Tire..not sure if it's the new RS DOT R tire.

Quick Reply: 275/35R18 and 335/30R18 tires. Do they fit?
