My car used to rub in full-lock when I had the cup car brake ducts mounted on it.

Yeah, I am not sure what Andrew put on there.....he did mention that because of the brake ducts, it will rub on full (close to it) lock. Maybe he installed the cup car ducts? I guess I will have to rack it and take a look. Thanks, Tim

Someone posted here a little while ago that their LWF sounded like a bucket of bolts and I thought WTF are they talking about. The next time I got in the car I listened to all the noises I had grown used to ( and yes it does sound like a bucket of bolts) .I'm with Larry - get a loud exhaust . The rest is just harmony.

On that note, I would like to hear some exhausts in person. I had a B&B on my M3 (with a track pipe too). That is about the loudest combo you can get, and I liked it a lot.

But I want to hear some GT3's with different exhausts.....maybe I will post and see if there are any around Sacramento. Will less than 1000 GT3's in the US, it may be hard to find one! Tim

I think I may know what noise you are talking about.
Does it only occur when the engine speed comes down to idle?
I have a "chirpping sound" - you have to listen real careful for it - but it sounds like a chirpping sound when the engie comes down from any rpm and settles into idle. Usually i hear it just as the needle comes down to 1000 or 1200rpm.
I mentioned it to my mechanic and he had a similar sound in a 996 Turbo and it ended up being a problem with the power steering system.

Yes, that sounds like it....on my next service I will have them take a look at the power steering. Thanks, Tim

just drive down to San Francisco

between Napa and Sunnyvale, you will find a dozen different GT3s, and some with M3s too...

I noticed something "new" about that sound. It is only when turning a bit.....like it is diff related. My buddies car did it too, but not quite as loud. It only happens at low speed, low rpm, when turning the wheel....such as coming out of a driveway...and then taking off, again, while turning. Must just be the LS diff noises. Tim

Easiest thing to do is to hook up with some other GT3 owners in your area and have them get in your GT3 (vice a versa) and listen. Rennlist and PCA are great ways to get connected with other owners.

Tim - you made me curious and I checked ouot my car (preppiing it for a track event next monday-thursday and yes, it makes a funny noise when driving in first or reverse right after startup. I've gotten so used to it that I ignore it. It does sound something like a fast coffee percolator. Wife's GT3 also does it. Part of the charm.

A' HA!! So I am not crazy. LOL. I think the sound may be related to the limited slip???? My car does it all the time....hot or sold, but only when going slow....Tim

Sounds like the LSD. You hear it at slow speeds with a lot of lock. You won't hear it at WOT coming out of a turn in second or third as the beast hooks up.
