Why rather have a GT3 Vs GT2
My buddy has both and I had spend some considerable time driving the GT3. The GT3 felt great, had great power (not scary power), and felt mechanical.
The GT2 is a beast. I drove it last night and it has crazy power. A quick down shift in 4th gear and the pedal down, you are well into tripple digits. Even though it has massive wheels in the rear, powering in corners scared me. When the turbo kicks in, the rear end seemed to want to come out (maybe the lack of my driving skills), but i felt alot more comfortable cornering in the GT3.
Last night as i was driving it, a moddified E46 M3 comes up to me and startesd revving its motor. he downshifted and floored it, i simply downsifted to 5th from 60MPH and still pulled away slightly to 100MPH without killing the motor. So the guy in the M3 thinks he kept up with me and is happy waving. I dont like to street race at all and I know I will get flamed for this.
I slow down again and he wanted more, at 70 MPH I downshift to 3rd and gunned it, I pulled away like he was in reverse. I looked down at the Speedo and could not beleive my speed. I told me buddy, this car has too much power and i would get into way to much trouble if I drove it on a regular basis.

It's only when you put $ into the equation that people start to rave about the GT3..the GT2 is vastly superior.
Read some historical threads here, and elsewhere, and you'll see how attitudes towards the GT2 are changing (IMO), it's the "beast" that's becoming desireable as the pet. Now that they have stopped making them, it was bound to happen.
Speed in the GT2 is effortless..in the GT3 it takes revs!

Oh man I hate this topic. The GT2 and GT3 are so different and so similar at the same time. It's like comparing Rambo to Bruce Lee .. equally deadly and entertaining with lots of action but executed in completely different ways with appeal to difference audiences. I choose the GT3 over GT2 at the Porsche race track in Germany with advice from experts there, cost not a consideration. If you want the best of both worlds get a CGT ... but then you give up lots of practicality.

Got the GT3 in Dec. Now I have to get the GT2 so I have both of the Best Porsches ever built Looks like next Winter the finances will come together on the GT2 Looking forward to the search.

At first just the advice. My own assessment after 6 months with the GT3 is deleting weight off the tail end works like magic. Stock GT2 is 300-400lbs heavier on the tail end, has a 6500RPM redline, and violent power lags and surges. To get 477hp all you need is increased displacement on the NA motor, keeping the 8k+ RPM and weight low. The scoops, turbos, etc. on the GT2 are just bling IMO .. marketing material to justify the higher price. But if they had done the GT2 right (say at 2900 lbs) they would have difficulty justifying the CGT at 2x the price.
