Sticky go pedal
Guys,
My accelerator has become notchy.
After I depress it about 2/3rd there is some resistance then almost a click, then full scope.
I will be seeing my OPC of course.
Does anyone have an idea.
Is the accelerator in our machines an electronic device, or is it connected by cable ?

In the GT3 it is a cable but it still ends up at a computer. All street going 996's have E-Gas. I am not sure but I think the cup cars have it too. This may sound obvious but did you check that the floor mat is not snagging the pedal?

Hi Bob,
yes, I even gave it a sweep behind the pedal.
I am having my suspension set up for track by JZM this coming week.
If the problem is a simple fix, I'll get JZ to sort it.
If it is a more expensive job which can be done under warranty then its off to Porsche.

SPR - thanks for the correction. E-Gas began with the 99 C4S and has been on the cars since then. I forgot about the earlier C2.

Rgds,
Rgds,

Hey Bob, funny, I was thinking about e-gas the other day after reading your story about the "other German car" with the e-brakes that decided they were malfunctioning, and then did. My '02 Cup car is a cable right to the throttle body, so no e-gas on that, which makes sense since it's using a motorsports ECU, not the stock computer.
Then, I started wondering about how e-gas would work in the GT3 if i was trying to left foot brake. I do this in my Honda Pilot all the time, it's the only way to get it to turn in the snow, and I can balance the throttle and the brake to make it rotate. Now, I know it's not the right technique, but I thought what the heck - well, get the car setup and balanced, hold the throttle, and then step on the brake - it dies! The throttle closes when I do this. So much for that idea.
Try it in yours and tell me if you get the same thing.

Looks interesting Mike, but I was never a fan of left foot braking, especially when on the gas, and nothing about driving the GT3 makes me feel differently. I do find it interesting though, how people can go quite quickly with such different styles.

Sorted.
OK my Mk1 GT3 has cable operated throttles.
The later Mk2's got the Egas potentiometer deal, as you say.
My problem was where the two sections of throttle cable are connected by a crescent arm. The end of one of the cable outer sheaths was snagging slightly. A simple fix with a cable tie has resolved the problem.
