Would you run the C2 on the street, with a street oriented suspension, and reserve the E36 for track use? On a similar note, if the E36 is your track biatch, isn't the GT3 overkill for the street?
Sorry of the thread hijack, but I'm keenly interested in your thoughts, especially since I just ordered a custom set of Motons for the C2 rather than the E36!

Well I have to say one thing as reference that if it is meant just for the track or just exclusively more for that you can really search the limits of the car versus say the GT3 or even a 996 if something should happen it may cost an arm/leg to repair versus something like e36 which you can pick up at a great price parts are definitely cheaper and you already have the frame of mind if something happens your prepared. For example maybe it's not a good anlaogy but I have 2 friends with EVO 8's one who goes about 5/10ths on the track and one 8-9/10ths at the track and I run my GTI(track car only) at 9-10/10ths I would have a 11 second advantage over 8 laps with my 5/10ths friend but would be 15 seconds down on the other EVO friend(I'm down 140 hp coompared to the EVO's). I guess it's a matter of if your willing to push the car to its limits without worrying about the aftermath. I be lucky pushing 7/10ths on my GT3. Actually ne car is pretty capable on the track but it's all driver. I had hella fun with my previous 996 and you shouldn't regret to get one. Regards. Mike

The Gt3 is overkill in terms of power for the track. But I do admit it is a great street/track car. I do not use either of them daily. The M3 has motons and is too "tracked" to use daily. The decals and large wing makes it too much of an attendtion grabber...

yeah, as soon as fong's done, his car's twin, well a heavier twin, will get the same roll bar at TCDesigns. then tony can rework my motons, brakes, alignment and watever on the twin car.

frayed, i will soon have moton on my e36m3 in addition to the moton'd gt3. fong drove my gt3 and i drove his moton'ed m3 at thunderhill last week. gt3 is more rewarding to drive, needs more attention, and i wet my diaper a lot more ;-) the moton'd m3 is something else. it's neutral almost like a spec miata. i dial in the steering input and it will hold where as my gt3 i have to make minor corrections. it was the first time i drove m3 on track, i was very confident pushing it, though not as hard as fong did as he's a faster and more insane driver ;-)
as to your question whether GT3 is overkill for the street. i don't know how to answer it. i put 1200 miles on track on my gt3 (3000 total miles) i only drive 6/10 at most. i am going to use m3 as a more hardcore track car and drive it at 9/10.
i think both are great cars to track, it's a matter of how much money you want to risk on the track.
btw, fong and i use the same mechanic who are intimately familiar with 996 and e36's who had race 996 in the past. as such the bias in set up is similar.
one caveat. the moton'd e36m3 only works with huge amount of camber (over 3 deg) and pretty stiff springs. it's really not meant to be street driven anymore. although fong and i drive to the track (no tow)..... moton'd gt3 on the other hand is still comfy on street, if that matters to you.
