So it is the exact same discs as what my car has.

I guess when the 997 upgrade kits come out for around 10K,
it may be a worthwhile replacement.

OTOH, the composition of the disc may not have improved the resiliency of the disc when ABS kicks in and hammers the pads to the rotor on the unloaded
side of the car when trail-braking.

So with record profits, mega profits, how much can it cost to swap out problematic Gen I technology for presumably better GenII? With money in the bank, why do the numbers not work? WWhat kind of price can you put on good will anyway.
Thanks

Jack, the numbers do work... I was just being sarcastic. Porsche's vaults are loaded. A good will replacement program sure seems like the right thing to do with regard to PR and consumer confidence, especially for such an expensive item that seems to be deteriorating prematurely.

Cheers

its a bit strange that they didn't put the new ones on the 05 GT3 but they did on the Turbo S.

the only reasoning i can think of for this move is that porsche is that the Turbo S is a new(?) addition to the lineup and Porsche didn't want to screw over any of the 04 owners with PCCB.

then again, the Turbo S isnt EXACTLY new, and basically screwed over anyone with a late model turbo with X50/pccb.

just wierd.

ive driven the new PCCBs on a 997C2S and they feel great, all the periodicals seem to agree.
they are tireless and the feel is wonderful.

But that's true of the Gen 1 as well..it's mainly "tracking" where there is purported problem.

Hey, OG, does your wife know my wife???
You guys need to consider a different type of upgrade. My wife actually talked me into the GT3 when I was having doubts. After only 22 months with my C4S I thought I was nuts to dump it for the GT3 but she quietly assured me that you only go around once in life and I should not deny myself something that not only did I work hard for but obviously had a great deal of passion for.

Passion keeps you young and make life worthwhile.

It helps that we can support these passions financially. Still, I'm really lucky that I have a wife that "get its". Life is good.

Kurves - you have a smart wife. My father taught me years ago, "fast cars are a lot cheaper than fast women".

My wife always complained about the rattle from the sunroof. I told her the only solution was to get a new car without a sunroof. "Idid it for you honey"
