Default Carnewal's BBS Mag Wheels

Just noticed BBS split rims at Carnewal's. Anyone have any experience with those?

i saw that too, they sure look the business.

i can't decide what wheels to get for my GT3... they carnewal ones seem really nice

i want to go with BBS, but i'm not sure which ones in their lineup to choose.

the carnewal ones dont show up on the BBS site, and the BBS site's configurator is missing a few cars...

They are not on the BBS site because they are RACE wheels and not really suitable for the street. Be prepared for lots of bent rims if you use them on anything but the track. They don't like potholes (or rumble strips) very much, but other than that I think they would be my choice.
There is also an optional center that eliminates the need for the 5mm wheel spacer to clear the brake caliper. 5-10 weeks delivery from Gert. Special order.

A better investment might just be the Motons, they are about the same price and the GT3 wheels aren't that heavy at least compared with the GT2 set.

they are the BBS Motorsport Trans-Am Magnesium race wheels, as Racerron said they are the race wheels. they are shown on BBS's motorsport site, as these are not desinged for the street - the magnesium centers being super lightweight but easy to bend on public streets.

with that said, i agree that the Motons, when properly setup and configured, would make the GT3 even more killer at the track than it already is. and i heard the stock GT3 wheels aren't that bad for performance. though aesthetically, the BBS are awesome, love the center-lock with bbs insignia on the step lip and gold centers would look killer with the silver lips. for performance, i believe the Manthey magnesiums are also super light as well, though are hard to get. any three would be an incredible addition to an already superb platform.

What is the difference between the BBS Racing 2 piece rim and 3 piece rim? Is it weight? Cost?

What do you think of mag vs. aluminum for limited street, mainly track use? I'm not interested in buying new wheels every season. Think they will last?

Do not use motorsport wheels for the street-- period. The rims will bend when you hit a pothole, and you will have to send the wheels back to BBS every two years for servicing. You can specify a slightly thicker rim-half if you MUST have them for the street, just be aware of what you're getting into. I don't know what Euro prices are now for the wheels, but in the past it was more economical to buy them here than in the EU, as is the case in most parts for our cars. A very good alternative, in my experience, is the Fikse Profil forged wheel, which is raced in the U.S. World Challenge series and which comes in five-bolt and centerlock versions. Both the BBS and Fikses are great.

I got one set of those.

Specs:

8.5" x 18"
11" x 18"

The complete set on Hoosiers A3S04 245/35R18 and 305/30R18 is 38 lbs lighter than my stock wheels on DSSR 265/35R18 and 285/30R18.

I drive on them to/from the track/autocross events.

I don't use them daily. These are track wheels. When driving in public roads, I drive at a slower pace and watch the road ahead, to prevent pot holes or the likes.

The centers are forged Magnesium, the halves are forged aluminum.

ah i see. i guess the previous posts' recommendations still hold of not using them significantly on the street.
