Default Front Discs / Rotors

Hi Guys

I am looking for some replacement front discs / rotors that are none Porsche. I am fed up witht he standard discs cracking.

Has anyone tried any other brands. I want to keep the standard Calipers and the Pagid pads.

if I can loose some weight that will be good. But my main aim is to extend the life of the disc / rotor.

Cheers Sean

Sean,

Try the Cup discs from Porsche Motorsport or Performance Friction (2 piece) with aluminium hats and grooved discs.

Ciao,

Johannes E.

Cup discs crack just as fast as the OEM's. I just ordered the Brembo floating discs. Front is a direct bolt-on, rear requires ebrake removal. Tested at Daytona. Brembo claims weight savings at 12lbs per axle.

Here we go again. DEVEK has some great floating hat rotors that also save about 6lbs per side. I know cause I have a set on my car now. You can get drilled or slotted. These are also floating hat rotors as well.

They are a board sponsor.

I have the AP racing front floating rotors...they are race quality...they rattle a bit over bumpy roads...kind of anoying...AP is owned by Brembo.

Another choice used by Speedvision cars is Performance Friction...

Both the AP and the PF are hard core race pieces. Can't go wrong with either choice.

I think they are about 2lbs lighter per rotor over stock.

ZO6,

I looked into the PFC rotors, (I have their pads and love them), but they wanted $1k each rotor, yes each rotor!! I don't know what that is Canadian, but I bet its a still a lot. However, the rotors, do look very cool, and have a very trick slot design.

I just got the AP's as well, cost about $2,200. They are supposed to last 10x as long as the OEM rotor. White Lightning uses them for the RSR (LeMans and ALMS), so I guess they will work for me. Call Kent Moore at Premier Sportscar Service at (702)649-8267 tell him Philip sent you.

BTW, you need to bed these in properly or they will vibrate.

White Lightning usually always beats the Racers Group in endurance racing, so I'll stick to the same parts that they use, but good to know.

Brembo 2-piece floating hat rotors, J-hook slotted, under $1800 per pair, front or rear. This setup was used by Howard/Boss Motorsports team at Daytona -- I was told that the rotors/pads went the entire 24 hours.
