This is my first post to the Rennlist Discussion Forum. I’m an avid auto fan and have found these types of boards, mainly the M5Board.com (I own a ’03 BMW M5), to be an exceptional source of information. Thanks in advance for your help!

Anyway, to my question… I’m looking to buy a GT2. In my search, which has been quite extensive, I have encountered large discrepancies in pricing. As well, I have found it difficult to find a definitive source for pricing guidelines.

I’m currently considering a 2002 GT2 that has 9500 miles. The car is pretty heavily optioned (factory) with Arctic silver with full black leather interior package, FULL carbon fiber interior package, Carbon/Aluminum shift lever, Carbon brake handle, 3-Spoke Carbon/Leather Steering Wheel, Carbon fiber door sills with embossed GT2 logo, Carbon fiber rear center console, Cruise control, Aluminum instrument dials, Footwell Lighting and leather sun visors w dual lighted mirrors. According to the owner, the vehicle has never been tracked and not driven in inclement weather. The car is beautiful. No accidents. Full maintenance records from the original dealer.

Here’s my conundrum, I can buy this vehicle for $115K. The price seems “too good to be true,” in my mind. Please correct me if I’m wrong. However, I’ve had a difficult time nailing down anyone on a pricing recommendation, including one of my local Porsche stores.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Am I missing something here…?

don't take too long to think about it, i might buy it! sounds like a nice car, well-documented with a tracable history--and most important--factory warranty which is like gold. the gt2 is at the top of the food chain, u can't go wrong with it.

Sounds like a pretty good deal if the PPI works out.

I grew up in Clayton, MO and went to Wash U... Nice town. THere are a number of other Porsche Rennlisters in the area. You'll have some nice drives together...

Sounds great .....It hasn't been sitting around for a long time by any chance? have it checked out it aint too expensive to get an independant specialist bod to provide a buyers report and if it's ok then go for it.

That is an excellent price for that car. Be sure to take it to a Porsche dealer and have them do a pre-purchase inspection and run a service history to be sure nothing shows up. If it checks out that woudl be a great buy.

get a very thorough PPI done. its a steal at that price (even for a used GT2)

I had been looking for a GT2 as well. I remember seeing a low priced silver car that was a import not a US Car. The price was alot less than the US car. Check the VIN to make sure this is a US car and not a ROW car. I don't know if that makes a big difference, but the price told me it might.

just FYI this one has been sitting at the dealer since like early 2003~... mabye they will be more realistic with the price

$115 seems like a very good deal for that car. I considered it when I was searching, but I wanted to get into a car with less miles. (It was also priced quite abit higher 2-3 months back when I was looking.)

I don't know anything concrete, but it has been available for several months, and the seller reduced the price pretty quickly- seems to be pretty motivated...

Regarding that car in Boston- Last I checked $167K is what they would take- maybe less now that it is '05. And it will need a repainted LF fender cause it has a nice foot long scratch in it. Otherwise a beautiful car...

GT2's are illiquid and the mileage seems a little higher than most. This seller may just be getting tired of waiting to get full value, hence the low price.

As clubrcr mentioned, make sure it's not a gray market car (no warranty, much lower value, really hard to sell). I've seen a few of these try to get passed off as US cars. If it's not and the PPI & service history check out, buy it.

for 9.5k perfect 02, 115 is reasonable. what is the in service date? you must have only a few months of warrantee left? try to buy an extended warrantee thru dealer.

during PPI, pls have factory mech check rotors very carefully, and replace under warrantee if possible
