You shouldn´t start the car and let it idle for 30min. My GT3 has now been in my heated garage under a car cover for about 6 weeks and the battery seems ok.

update:

it had been 8 weeks since i last started my GT3. started up, but when it started, the instrument panel flickered a bit.

it seems to have lost my speed gong setting and trip odometer.

besides some of the OBC's settings and numbers (like trip odometer, mpg, etc) is any important data lost?

strange that data was lost, the car started right up, mabye the extra drain while starting was so much that the computer lost power?

Guys, don't take the Posrche battery for granted. Some may not last 2 years some may last longer. Anyone who doesn't drive their car at least once a week, you're better off with a battery maintainer plugged-in. It's cheap and easy to use. Worth avoiding the hassles involved in getting a new battery.

This is an aftermarket anti-theft device, not Porsche equipment.

Hi Viken

Do you know if the GT3 uses the same battery as the regular 996? On the C2 that I have, the stock battery is a "wet" cell battery where there is a vent for acid...thus I am concern it might spill ...
Just wondering why there isnt a dry cell or sealed battery for this?

The batteries are of the same type, but the GT3 gets a 60 Ah version instead of a 80 Ah.
