Cost to race a GT3 cup car

George, we may call it passion, my significant other has a different word for it ... 
I'll race the cup car for a couple of more seasons and then go back to something a little more cost effective. It's addictive, but there's a guy here in Ontario who kicks my butt in a tube frame Monte-Carlo that costs him less than my engine rebuild to run for the whole season ( engine, tranny, tires, fuel, everything!). Now, I think I have more fun driving my car, but he's still faster, so I guess I'll have to start lifting weights and jump in one of those beasts some day.

Can you tell me more about this monte-carlo, i'm unfamiliar with it

Hi Maas, the Monte-Carlo of which I speak has as much in common with a real Chevrolet Monte-Carlo as any NASCAR "stock" car has with it's namesake.
It's a tube frame Trans-Am car, there are a number of chassis builders out there, but the distinguishing characteristics are:
full tube frame
solid rear axle, usually a Watts link type set up
fibreglass NASCAR style body
600+ horsepower, carburetted small block V8
under 2500 lbs
brutally fast but not easy to drive well

I had the same problem that you have. There was this guy that would always kill me in his 70's SS (real Show Room Stock class, fuel cell and all) Camero. This thing even had the doors welded.
