Two Piece Lug Bolts?
This may be a silly question but, why does Porsche require the use of the two piece lug bolts? And what is the function of the secondary piece? There are suppliers making one piece replacements and seems everyone gets all weirded out at the suggestion of using them. Tnx

Good question. Maybe so that the ball does not gall the seat as you tighten it? But then again, Porsches have had lugnuts that turn into the seat for 40 years. Anyone else know why?

the washer is supposed to seat against the wheel and the bolt head puts pressure against it as it rotates. So that doesnt scrape the paint or finish of the wheel when it rotates. And it applies more even pressure against the wheel surface.
