Smokin hot. Love the forward and aft fender flares. Not a fan of the hood scoop. Invokes the Ram-air Trans Am look. AW reports an est. 3.5 0-60 time! Interesting story on GM's little visit to the poor sap who first posted the photos.

That looks good...as a current ZO6 owner I have to say that the performance on that will be hard to top at even twice the price...

No kidding, the wheel, tire, and brake sizes are enormous as well. 275 front 345 rear tires. Plus they have a special aluminum chassis to reduce weight to supposedly 3100 pounds. I heard somewhere 2900, but 3100 is still very impressive for all that hardware.

It would be easy to say "yeah, but it's a GM..." but damn! This thing looks like it will be incredible especially after seeing a few current Z06s on the track. Holy *********!

This is getting ridiculous.

I remember when a thousand pounds separated the 427 Corvette that had a cast iron wet sump engine and very little use of lightweight materials from a 1970 911 S Porsche with it's dry sump magnesium engine, forged alloy wheels and aluminum rear decklid.

Now the Corvette with a 7 liter dry sump engine is rich with light weight materials and weighs the same as a 911.

Porsche needs to put the 911 on a serious diet- bring back the aluminum body, magnesium engine, forged alloy wheel, etc from their past, add in some carbon fiber and exotic alloys. The recent remake called the 997 is not enough.

The 911 needs to shed several hundred pounds to compete in the emerging sports car market if it is to be considered a sports car and not a boulevardier.

A 500 HP Corvette weighing less than a 911, wow, Porsche is going backwards, Corvette forwards.

Well, lighter than a 996TT with less power. As far as losing weight, Porsche would have to offer a lot to get it down in weight. Don't forget that the Z06 is half the price of a GT3 as well. It makes for a serious internal debate at the end of the day (even with the typical GM interior quality).

so true.... but porsche makes trux, too, just like GMC!!! i've gone back in time with porsche to 2130 # RS clone.

i read about the z06, and am seriously considering one. i hated the seats in the last year's z06's we drove at Spring mountain in rupert's class... but i 've always changed the crappy seats out in gt2/3's so why can't i do it in a z06?

not the most attractive thang, but what a performance value.

Just read the Autoweek on the Corvette, they say Z06 = 3130 pounds, that's 1 pound less than a Carrera S and 46 pounds more than a Carrera.

They also claim Corvette engine has Titanium rods.
