I am looking to buy either GT3 wheels or BBS RS-GT wheels for my C2. I can get either for about $3K. Pros or cons? I know that the BBS fronts weigh 20.6 lbs (8 inch). Any idea how much the (8.5 inch) GT3 fronts weigh? Thanks.

man, those are some heavy wheels.

bbs rs-gt in comparison is 21lb and 23lb for 8.5 and 11 sizes

Yeah those are heavy, my CCW's were 18lbs I believe. (17x10.5 rear)

The OEM wheels are what I'd call medium weight, pretty good for a cast wheel in fact. As soon as you go to a forged wheel and/or a multipart wheel things get lighter and more expensive. Lightest by far are race wheels like the BBS Race ior Manthey. Trouble is, those rims are not type approved for street use - with good reason. They are fairly brittle and not pot hole resistant. I showed a Rolex racer the line around our local track and pointed out that one could shorten the distance through the esses by driving on top of the rumble strips. He said " we never do that in endurnace racing - too great a risk of breaking a wheel". I learned something that afternoon. I use the OZ Superlegerra forge 3 piece wheels myself.

Bob, on the OZ's, what size/offsets are you using? What are the weights?

Since then, he's added 5 mm spacers to the fronts.

Front 18x8.5 - 25.2
Rear 18x11 - 27.11

MDS - They weigh 21.2 and 23 lbs. The offset is not exactly stock as per the link Viken posted. The rears look better being a bit farther out. I added Porsche 5 mm spacers and bolts to the fronts (Carnewal to the rescue) and they look very very nice. The polished lip is very attractive.

Any rubbing ever front or rear with the spacers? Any handling difference or did you correct for it in the fronts?
