Here goes... Is there still a "gas guzzler tax" in CA? I thought it was eliminated a couple of years ago.

I think you are talking about luxury tax which was eliminated.

As Fongster said, gas guzzler tax is still in effect, and probably will remain. It is the luxury tax which was eliminated a couple of years ago.

i believe the tax is on a sliding scale depending on the vehicle's mpg/other variables may be involved.
