Default Brake Squeel

Picked up my GT2 today with steel brakes replacing the Ceramics for track duty. Went with RS14 Pagids - and they were ridiculously loud (read squeel) on the way home. I tried best I could to warm them up and they were better, but when I slowed in traffic again they were, well they made me wish I took my chances at the track with the ceramic disc's!

Anyone have any luck with keeping RS14's quiet? Did they get better with break in?

Thanks,

JCM

Try bedding the pads according to Pagids directions. That helped with Oranges, so it may work with the RS14's as well.

The stock pads with the PCCB squealed, when i added the RS-14 there is allot more brake dust and the squeal got louder.

That's the way RS-14 are on the street, loud squeal under light brake application.

Try applying a thin coat of copperlube or "brakequiet" to the pad backing plates.
The squeal is sometimes caused by the backing plate of the pad rubbing against the caliper pistons.

The Porsche workshop manual is very clear that no foreign substance should be applied to the pads or calipers to try to quiet the brakes. If the RS-14s don't have the factory shims on them, you may want to try that but DO NOT apply any type of lube or quiet grease.

Default Thank You

Thanks everyone. Karl, I haven't had a chance to bed them in, but will this weekend. Hopefully that will help. But I guess under light braking they will still be loud. If so I will switch out with stock pads for the street.
