Rear wing plugs_how to remove?

Mike and I just installed ours. You need a T-40 to loosen the bolts holding the wing down. He bought both the 4 and the 8 degree shims, so I'm using the smaller ones and he's got the bigger ones. The car looks much more aggressive with the added 8 degrees.
Did you guys paint your shims? I didn't realize they would be visible. My car is AS and the smaller shims are barely noticeable, so I'm thinking I may just use some flat black spray paint.
