I for one would be very happy if there is no 997 GT3, and the next one is a 998!
I really hope you guys are right, as it keeps our car more special longer!!
Sadly I have heard that there will be a 997 GT3 from the component supply line side, for the final 2 years of the 997 run, so we'll have to wait and see.

Ok, I bet you a Rennlist membership that a 997 GT3 comes out before the end of 2005

The turbo too.

I'll take the bet, just no way that is going to happen, unless your source is inside Porsche AG's marketing/engineering dept. Just doesn't make sense for them to bring out a GT3 997 in less than 15 months from now, even before a Turbo, no way!!

My opinion on what's likely with Porsche has swayed considerably, but on this day and hour I'm starting to think that there will be turbos and GT3s sooner than many may think. Porsche now is selling 996s along with 997s. While the current turbos and GT3s still eclipse the 997 S in performance, many people who buy these cars want two things which those models don't provide. They want their cars to feel brand new and very rich. People have gotten used to the 996 visage and the 997 is supposed to have a higher quality interior. (I hate the 997 steering wheel and in general like the design of the 996 interior more, but I guess the fit and finish has been improved in the 997). I find it hard to see the 996 models continuing for much longer. Then that would leave us with just the Carrera and Carrera S. While the S offers great performance and good 'ring times (I hear under 8 minutes), they will not stay in the press as GT3s and Turbos do. Porsche needs it's flagships to get the world's attention and a diversified model line to fit any customer's desire.

And it's going to take the 998 with increased HP to do just that...the "otherguys" have a big bragging rights lead at the moment.
