The article that Bob brought up, which consisted of the 360CS & Ford GT40 along with the GT3 was indeed an eye opener.

"It (GT3) shadowed the more powerful and lighter Ferrari in nearly every acceleration test. The two ran side by side to 60 mph (4.0 seconds) and to 150 (23.9) and were just about equal in the quarter-mile with the Porsche hitting 114 mph in 12.3 seconds and the Ferrari at 115 mph in 12.4." --C&D
Also note that the GT3 pulled 1.03g's on the skidpad, compared with .98 for the Ferarri.

Now on the issue of tires...as if I wanted to confuse things even more, notice "the Ring" time done by Von Saurma in the GT3 (7.54). Michellin PS2 tires were NOT used. Instead Pirelli Rosso's were fitted after the magazine decided they could get a better time with them compared with the PS2's that they had just previously tried. Makes you wonder why the PS2 is the street tire of choice for the GT3, while the Rosso is only installed as OEM in some countries.

This validates my theory that the PS2 is a comfort "performance" tire designed to give a cushy ride with high levels of grip, appealing more to the average customer. I think it's use on the GT3 is pure marketing, while it was probably designed more with the 997 in mind.

I wonder which countries have Rossos has OEM on the GT3... I bet they all get the GT3RS, also?

The question of whether the Pirelli Corsa System has more grip than the PS2... Although it's been awhile since I had those tires, in which time I've had the car properly aligned by the experts at Lucent, I would have to say without a doubt the Corsa System is miles better than the PS2, and out performs that tire in every performance catogory, including grip.

Since the GT2 came on Michelins ad did the GT3 it might be a promotional thing since Michelin sponsors the Super Cup.

When the 993 TT came out all the first production came on Bridgestones, later Pirelli and Conti were added.

FWIW, Pirelli does have a Porsche approved (N6) Corsa System set for the GT2 as well.

315/30 ZR18TL 98N6 Left

How would you rank the "comfort" of the corsa system tire vs the PS2?

How does it compare to Pilot Sport Cup if they (Corsa System and PSC) are both R-compound?

If you are concerned about comfort, keep your PS2's. None of the tires in question will even come close.

I've never tried the MPSC, but I can tell you on a 2 mile track they're about a second faster than the Corsa, which in turn is faster than the Corsa System.

If by "comfort" you mean more isolating, then the PS2.
