Default drove 997 PCCBs update

Just drove the 997s and regular carrara. First the PCCBs on the 997 feel totally different from the GT2. Not grabby and much more linear I got them good and hot and they didn't make a noise. No grinding or squeaking like my GT2 if I didn't know they were on the car I would have thought they were steel. The combination of different rotors and pads are a huge improvement. I'm thinking of having Porsche update my 02 to the 997 spec biased on the noise issue alone. They really don't have a case now saying they all do that!.Other impressions on the 997s and 997 the s handles great very solid and sharp and tracks well. Cant say much about the power, the s was a TIP.and the 6speed was the 325hp one thing the shift linkage was great, same throw as the GT3 but very fluid. I think when we see some US tests the handling on the S will be equal or better than the GT3. Time will tell. carl

My experience was that noise depended on how the pads had been treated. New pads felt and sounded good. After they had been overheated a few times they dried out and became grabby and noisy as you describe. So make sure you aren't comparing new pads on the 997 to your used pads on the GT2.
