Was on the way home from work tonight and after a few blocks the cars pulling right. Yep Left Rear's almost flat.
Of course I'm in some decent clothes. Pull over, pop the hood and grap the Bottle of Goop and the other bits. Tried to squeeze the Bottle into the tire, After removal of the valve, of course! And only got a bit over half in, I guess an aerosol would not be Green?? Figured only about 10 miles to home, so I put the valve back in and fire up the compressor ( the little bugger works pretty good). Put in 40 Lbs & headed for the Ranch. I make it, by a few hairs. Change my clothes and look under and the tire's weeping Goop. It's on the inside halfway between the rim & the tread, I'm sure the tires Shot, or can a tube be put in these ?? I sure would'nt run it very fast, but I haven't even used up 1/2 the tire. Hate to have to buy a new set![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

Internal patch if it's a small pucture. Do not plug it and no inner tube...I had a screw in one of my tires and the internal patch works fine for street use.

Go to your local auto shop, k-mart, wal-mart and buy a plug kit, $5-10 (comes with a reamer, glue and 5-10 plugs). If you get a flat it is quick to fix, at least good enough to get you home. This way you do not goop up the inside of the tire and also you do not mess up the wheel. If you are really paranoid you can then take it to a shop to get it re-patched at your leisure.

From other threads within this forum patched or plugged tires reduce the speed rating. If you are pushing hard, the weight in back and torque coming through the surface of the tire down to the tarmac creates a lot stress in the carcass. In the motorcycle world, you get a puncture you change the tire regardless if you have 1 miles or 5000 miles because you do not want to risk your life on a repaired tire.

Guys, my puncture is on the inside sidewall not the tread. So perhaps the patch will work for the street.
Does anyone know if you can just use the aerosol spray goop as a replacement for replacement, instead of having to buy from Porsche?
Rocketman, good idea to have plug kit for such emergencies, thanks

Yes, it's history, bummer! Just ordered the replacement.
Can't figure how something could just jump out and bite the tire in the sidewall w/o me seeing it??
Oh well

Rockitman great link, bought 2, one for the GT3 and one for the Z8. It makes sense that this is a great addition to getting home.
Colm & adjohnson thanks for pointing out this is only a 'get you home & to the tire shop' fix.
As I regularly find myself way out beyond even the reach of a cell phone in my drives to the more distant tracks. (Parump, Vegas, Laguna all via the back roads) this little kit will be a nice bit of added security.
