The seat thing is a bit strange. Based on what I've experienced there seem to be some "OEM type" perlon recaros that just don't look quite right or perhaps, just an older style/early version/different manufacturer. I've had both types side by side and one just doesn't look like the other. The white sticker has a date code, I have pics of '04, '07 and '08 seats and they look identical.
Based on your pics the seat cover was removed as it is missing the extension spring between the two loops on the tension cable.
So it is safe to assume that the buckets are original to the car (consistent with the build date)
but that they are recovered in a later style?
What's also strange is that the velcro on the bucket is at the front of the bucket,
but the velcro on the front cushion is at the back of the cushion, making them shift place.
(if you understand what I mean)
I think those are original perlon buckets that were recovered in non-oem fabric, or at least oem fabric that is for some reason was part of a batch of fabric that was not exactly the same as "most" of the perlon buckets I have owned/seen. I had a single seat like that once that I bought from a chap in Australia that was marketed as an authentic perlon bucket single. From far away it looked like the original fabric, but up close it had more "sheen" to it. Plus my sticker on the bottom said "led swartz" or something like that which meant my seat was originally black leather ("Leder") and someone had repholstered it with black fabric at some point. The strange thing was that the "recaro" stitching on that seat and the Porsche crest in the headrest was literally (as in literally) identical to the other 100% oem buckets I have in my car and have owned in the past. It was just the fabric that differed. It wouldn't bother me if they match each other...in a dark car no one will notice. My issue was that I only had one like that so the two seats didn't match perfectly. for what its worth I have heard rumors that the fabric is available somewhere, if you wanted to re-uphoslter.
Thanks Scott 😊
I really have no idea about which parts on this car
are still original and which ones arent because it was
customized and intensively used as a car for trackdays.
So I hope that in 10 or 20 years this thread wont be
used as a reference like the ones on early911s.. 😋
But I hope to bring it back to its former glory using
only original parts 😊
Congrats! If you could pull the carpet up and confirm if the threaded bungs are present for the floor mounted fire extinguisher and take pics of them would really helpful for my possible cupification project!
@PumpkinRS I dont know if I can be of much help on that, this area is pretty molested, looks like rivnuts of some sort were torn out of the car and
they drilled right through the bottom and put bolts/nuts through.
This is so cool. bet you are having an absolute blast. This is literally one of my favorit things in life, namely, getting a special car that needs some tls an bringing it back to life, and then pinching yourself every day after it has come together counting your lucky stars you get to enjoy such a special vehicle.
