Default GT3 thick steering wheel question

My GT3 was one of the first ones off the boat. At that time I couldnt order the thicker steering wheel.

Now I am thinking about buying one.
Does anyone have one?..How does it feel?
Or is there anyone who had the standard thickness wheel and upgraded to the thicker wheel. Just wondering how you like it.

Thanks,
R

I have it and like it a lot. However, I cannot tell you how it compares to the standard one. I guess if you have somewhat bigger hands, it's great to have.

Had it on my GT2 and liked it. Current car does not have it, and it took a while to re-acclimate to a standard thickness wheel, but now everything feels fine. So, I would view this as a good option if low cost - a no brainer - but you will have to decide if it is worth the price Porsche charges.

I have it and love it. I prefer it to the thinner Alcantra RS wheel. I have medium to large hands (large palms, medium lenght fingers). I had the stock 3 spoke leather wheel on my 993 and 996 TT's, and the RS wheel on my 996TT for a while. The thicker wheel also has a softer feel to it, probably because it's double wrapped by the Exclusiv dept.

I upgraded to the thicker wheel (via Gert). Coming from the M3, which really does have a great steering wheel I found the Porsche wheel skinny and awkward feeling. I am very happy with the upgrade, and to me it was certainly worth the $.

Have the thicker wheel and like it much better than the std wheel on a friend's C4S, but the best wheel ever was the one on my E46 M3 which I traded in on the GT3... agree with above...

Thick is fine , however the Momo cup car wheel is really nice, smaller dia. extends toward you for a better position, really comfortable, no air bag!

Thanks guys, I think I will order one from Gert.
The Alcantara wheel is not available in the thicker format I assume.

I have it on my C4S ('04) and it's basically the same wheel with an extra layer of leather stitched on. I love it. Get it.

RR: The Alcantara GT3RS wheel is slightly thicker than the stock wheel but not so thick as the thicker steering wheel option.

Or you could go to a leather shop and see if they can cover the existing wheel in a layer of alcantara that even matches a little better and stitched in whatever color you want... I've considered this alternative.

My performance package 330i came standard with an Alcantara M3 wheel (as well as Alcantara seats, etc). I love that steering wheel.

Is this "thicker" steering wheel similar in diameter to the regular steering wheel? I remember reading somewhere that "thicker" steering wheels is smaller in diameter, and I'd like to confirm that...
