Another great track day........
Just did a second day at Willow Springs with the MPSCup's. They are superb, I did my best ever lap, 1:38.1 which firmly beats my old M3 times by over 1.5 seconds.
I also now have the Porsche Tequipment 5 point harness (and rollbar), which is an awesome speed addition, as it allows your body to be constantly relaxed, and not bracing yourself, so you get a much better feel for the car, tires and surface.
The only shot from the day is of this gent who brings his tires with him, he is very quick too, as were all the turbos out there. I also had a ride in CodeRed's GT2, the blue car in the shot, and could really feel the enorous extra ummmph over my car. I'm still scared of it!

It was a great day at Willow. The temp never exceeded 75 degrees. Andrew was tearing up the track, putting all those bimmers to shame. I liked the GT3 Cup car that was there with the air jacks. He was running around 1.27's as warm up laps!

It was fun i brought my R32 this time as my gt3 has new rear tires and I wanted to get some miles out of them. The R was fun and a lot more forgiving than my gt3. But after doing the timing as a passenger for Andrew made me miss the GT3. Also code red gave me a ride for a few laps in his gt2 the real difference is power. When you go from 4th to 5th @ 125 and the car comes on the boost very impressive!!! This was a milestone in my track days that i actually had someone wave me by. That means that i was the second slowest on the track. Last time i was the slowest and that was with the gt3. At least i have a lot of room for improvement!

Andrew - well done. I'm pleased that you've overcome your case of "bimmeritis". From my experience it would be a very rare M3 that could show its heels to a GT3 given equal drivers.

Bob, now I have the measure of the beast I agree, the M3 isn't it's equal, but it sure is easier to drive at it's maximum. The GT3 sure took some learning, both in setting it up right and in the education of the operator, but I am just so thrilled with it now, and even though my pace is a light year away from the competition times this car could do, the width of my smile is far greater than that difference!
I am tempted to go back to a lesser tire once the MPSC's are worn out, and see if I can learn to feel and control the car at the limits of a more progressive tire. I had a couple of slight slides yesterday, both power oversteer, nothing big, and the car was completely controlable, but in my mind I know the MPSC's have a reputation for letting go like a switch, and I'd like to learn to feel the edge with something more forgiving next.
I think this car will be with me for a very, very long time now, it is the first time I have felt this connected to a machine since I sold my old race prepped Ducati.

Probably could haul a wheelset up top like that with factory bike rack. Seems that guy just sets hit wheels inbetween the rails and uses all 5 straps to keep them solid to the rails. Only concern would be weight limit of the rack system???
