Default Underside detail pics-I don’t like cosmoline!

I don’t know about you guys but I really don’t like the look of all that cosmoline on the under side of my car. These are special cars and I think the parts we can’t see deserve similar attention to the parts we can. I know Porsche puts the protective coating there for driving in harsh conditions but I don’t take my car out in weather like that. I coated the bare aluminum suspension pieces and transmission with a good helping of paste wax for some protection.

I used 3M adhesive remover and Stoner brand citrus cleaner and A LOT of rags and nylon and brass brushes.

While I was in there I took the exhaust components off and had them coated in a ceramic plating and changed the spark plugs and coil packs at that time-much easier with the mufflers out! Went with stainless steel hardware exhaust except header bolts.

By pass tubes welded in by Darren Fister

Went with 997gt3 brake cooling ducts-they’re lower profile than 996 and don’t get chewed up as much. Kept the originals though.

Nice work! I’ve been torn on whether to remove the Cosmoline or not.

Did you send out the exhaust pieces for ceramic plating, or have somewhere local do it?

Thanks!
Darren Fister in Brentwood Ca did the bypass mod. on the mufflers and I used the company he uses for plating. I don’t know their name though

An acquaintance took his car to a Dryce facility. The end results were incredible.
